Groundbreaking Ceremony for Two Hilton Hotels in Lagos
The first stone has been laid for the construction of two Hilton hotels at the Marina de Lagos in the Algarve, marking the start of a €108 million investment project that will create 188 new jobs. The construction is expected to be completed in two years and has been entrusted to the Braga-based construction company dst by Mercan Properties.
Details of the Hotels
The first hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, will be a 5-star establishment featuring 180 rooms spread across four floors, covering a total area of 15,000 m². Notable amenities will include:
- A restaurant
- Two bars (one on a terrace with an infinity pool)
- A second pool on the ground floor
- A spa and fitness facilities
The second hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, will be a 4-star property with 90 rooms, including 27 suites equipped with kitchenettes, all within an area of 7,500 m². This hotel will also offer:
- A bar
- A restaurant
- An outdoor pool
- A gym

Bruno Martins, production director at dst, stated, “This project is a challenge for the image of dst. We face two years of hard work and dedication, but we have the necessary tools and engineering within our group to deliver this project to the quality our client expects.” Both hotels will be seamlessly integrated into the natural surroundings, showcasing unique architecture and stunning views, along with spaces for meetings, lush garden areas, and parking for over 160 vehicles.
Launch Event Highlights
The launch event was attended by the Mayor of Lagos, the President of Mercan Properties, a representative from Hilton, and the administration of dstgroup, among other stakeholders involved in the project. During the event, dst also inaugurated a construction site library, an innovative initiative aimed at connecting workers with literature, which will be maintained until the project's completion.
