A fire erupted in a store in Alcântara, Lisbon, leading to traffic disruptions and the evacuation of a nearby building. The incident, which started in the evening, has not resulted in any injuries so far.
Emergency Response in Full Swing
The PSP has deployed four patrol cars to manage the situation, with traffic being cut off at the intersection of Rua dos Lusíadas and Rua Luís de Camões, as well as on Rua 1º de Maio. Eight fire trucks from the Lisbon Fire Department and one from the volunteer firefighters are on the scene, along with 30 operational personnel.
Challenges in Containing the Fire
The fire, which remains confined to the store, is proving difficult to control due to the high thermal load caused by the abundance of materials in the Chinese products store. Despite the challenges, authorities confirm that there are no displaced individuals, as residents evacuated promptly upon noticing the smoke.
Ongoing Efforts
Efforts to extinguish the fire continue, with the same resources being maintained at the scene to tackle the persistent flames. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
