Mário Centeno, the outgoing governor of Banco de Portugal, is set to give an interview on RTP this Friday night. This comes just a day after the Democratic Alliance Government announced Álvaro Santos Pereira, former Economy Minister under Pedro Passos Coelho's administration, as his successor.
The interview, conducted by Vítor Gonçalves, is scheduled to start at 21:00, right after the Telejornal, and will be broadcast simultaneously on RTP1 and RTP3.
Upon confirming Álvaro Santos Pereira's appointment, the Government highlighted his suitability for the role, noting his decade-long absence from party affiliations or government positions. Meanwhile, left-wing opposition criticized the move as a "political choice", with the PS labeling it a breach of a "historical commitment" to reappoint the current governor.
The PSD, in response, accused the opposition of radicalism and "raising ghosts."
