Strong winds in the Santa Cruz area prevented the aircraft from landing, leading to the diversion of the last flight of the day between Porto Santo and Madeira. The flight, operated by Binter Canarias, was scheduled to land at Madeira International Airport - Cristiano Ronaldo at 21:55 but had to return to Porto Santo Airport due to adverse weather conditions.
According to flightradar24, the aircraft circled several times in the air without being able to approach the runway. The Santa Catarina weather station recorded a maximum gust of 76 km/h in the airport area.
Throughout the day, several flights were diverted, and a total of 22 air connections to Madeira were canceled due to bad weather.
