Widespread Fire Risk Across Regions
IPMA has also placed several municipalities in the northern and central interior and the Algarve under very high and high risk of rural fires. The fire danger is expected to decrease on Saturday.
How Fire Danger is Calculated
This danger, determined by IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. Calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation in the last 24 hours.
Weather Forecast for Today
IPMA forecasts for today on the mainland include periods of very cloudy skies, with partly cloudy or clear conditions in the Lower Alentejo and Algarve, light rain on the northern and central coast, strong winds along the southern coastal strip and in highlands, and a slight rise in maximum temperatures.
Minimum temperatures will range between 9 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 18 degrees (in Faro and Lisbon), while maximum temperatures will be between 20 degrees (in Viana do Castelo) and 29 degrees (in Évora and Faro).
