Portugal's mainland and the Azores archipelago are experiencing another day under the strong influence of an Atlantic depression. This means the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms, especially in the central and southern regions of the country.
The Algarve sub-regional command of Civil Protection reports that morning rainfall in the Faro district has led to requests for assistance in many areas affected by flooding, particularly in Faro and Vila Real de Santo António.

Heavy rain is also causing issues in Olhão.

Regarding wind forecasts, gusts could reach up to 90 kilometers per hour, along with rough seas, especially in the Algarve.
Alexandra Fonseca from IPMA highlights the situation in the Algarve for the coming hours.

IPMA has issued an orange warning, the second most severe, for the districts of Setúbal, Évora, and Beja, with heavy rain expected until noon.
According to the IPMA's website, the districts of Santarém and Lisbon are under a yellow warning until noon.
The districts of Castelo Branco and Portalegre are also under a yellow warning but until 3:00 PM.
In Madeira, the Funchal Port Captaincy canceled today's bad weather warnings for strong sea agitation and wind along the Madeira coast.
The Regional Maritime Authority advises that, despite the cancellation, boat owners and operators should take necessary precautions to ensure navigability conditions.
The damage
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) recorded over 800 incidents between 12:00 PM on Tuesday and 7:00 AM today.
Most incidents were caused by fallen trees and structures, flooding of public roads and homes, and road clearances.

"Most occurrences were registered in Greater Lisbon, but we don't have an updated count yet. In the Setúbal Peninsula (111), the Lezíria do Tejo region (101), Médio Tejo (31), Oeste (20), and others scattered across the country," said Paulo Santos from ANEPC.
