High-Speed Rail Line Between Lisbon and Porto Receives EU Funding
The high-speed rail connection between Lisbon and Porto was one of 134 projects selected by the European Commission for funding through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) on Wednesday. The project will receive a total of €7 billion in funding.
Over 80% of the EU's total funding will be allocated to projects that help achieve the bloc's climate goals.
This significant investment highlights the EU's commitment to promoting sustainable and efficient transportation across Europe. The high-speed rail line between Lisbon and Porto is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, making it a more attractive option for both passengers and freight. It will also contribute to reducing carbon emissions by encouraging people to switch from air travel to rail.
