The Lisbon Municipal Archive | Photographic is set to celebrate World Photography Day on August 19, marking the invention of photography and the public presentation of the first photographic process – the Daguerreotype – in France. The day is packed with activities tailored for children, seniors, and the general public, starting at 10:30 AM.

- Visit to the exhibition “from THEATRE to PORTRAIT” by Eurico Lino do Vale, showcasing the evolution of portrait photography.
- Educational sessions and the launch of the exhibition's catalog at 6:00 PM, available at a 10% discount on the day.
About Eurico Lino do Vale: Award-winning photographer Eurico Lino do Vale (1966) has been exhibiting since 1999, with works in prestigious collections worldwide. His work blends aesthetic sensitivity with photographic technique, offering a unique perspective on portrait photography and theatrical representation.
Exhibition “from THEATRE to PORTRAIT”: This exhibition features works from the Lisbon Municipal Archive | Photographic and private collections, including large-scale analog proofs, current proofs, and two projections from photographic series created specifically for the event. It runs from August 19 to September 20 at Rua da Palma, 246.
Catalog “from THEATRE to PORTRAIT”: The catalog includes all images from the exhibition, additional works by Eurico Lino do Vale, and texts by notable figures in the art world, providing insight into the photographer's creative process.
Program Schedule:
- 10:30 AM: Activities for children, including a visit to the exhibition and an educational activity “Little Photographers”.
- 2:00 PM: Senior-focused activities, featuring a visit to the exhibition, a documentary showcase on portrait photography evolution, and an “Enacted Portrait” session.
- 4:30 PM: General public activities, with a visit to the exhibition.
