Guinea-Bissau's President, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, declined to explain the reasons behind the expulsion of Portuguese media outlets during his visit to Cape Verde, stating the issue is strictly between Guinea-Bissau and Portugal.
"It's a problem between Guinea-Bissau and Portugal, not with Cape Verde. I won't answer that," Embaló told journalists at the Government Palace in Praia.
The Guinea-Bissau government ordered the immediate expulsion of Lusa news agency, RTP, and RDP's delegations from the country on Friday, suspending their broadcasts and mandating their representatives leave by Tuesday. No reasons were provided for this sudden decision.
"I won't discuss Portugal while in Cape Verde," Embaló reiterated, maintaining his stance on the matter.
