Portugal is currently facing one of its most challenging wildfire situations, with the blaze in Trancoso reigniting and now affecting four villages. The fire, which was initially under control by Sunday morning, has escalated, mobilizing eight aerial units and over 300 firefighters.

Critical Situation in Trancoso

The villages of Rio de Mel, Rio de Moinhos, Venda do Cepo, and Celintrão are directly in the fire's path, with authorities taking necessary measures to protect residents, including evacuations from Seixas. The commander on the ground, Nuno Seixas, emphasized the difficult access and the fire's intensity, complicating firefighting efforts.

José Costa from the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) described the Freches fire as the "most concerning" in mainland Portugal, highlighting the unfavorable weather conditions, especially the strong winds, which hinder containment efforts.
