Planned Power Interruptions Across Multiple Regions
Several municipalities across Portugal will experience temporary electricity cuts this Sunday as E-Redes, the national distribution operator, conducts essential maintenance work on the electrical grid.
The affected areas include Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra, Tomar, Faro, Lagos, and Olhão, with power interruptions scheduled between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
Essential Maintenance for Grid Reliability
E-Redes has confirmed these are "programmed interruptions, previously scheduled" with the specific goal of "ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical service." The company emphasizes that maintaining continuous and quality power supply remains their top priority.
According to the official statement: "To maintain the continuity and quality of electricity supply, we carry out localized work on the distribution network, requiring temporary interruption of power supply to customers."

Purpose of the Interruptions
E-Redes explains that during these planned outages, technicians will perform "maneuvers, connection work, repair or maintenance of network infrastructure" when all possibilities of alternative supply from existing installations have been exhausted.
The company further notes that "these interruptions also serve to correct situations that could generate network insecurity and/or prevent breakdowns," highlighting the preventive nature of the maintenance work.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to prepare for the temporary power cuts and make necessary arrangements for the Sunday morning period.
