PS National Political Commission to Debate Municipal Results and Position on OE2026

This meeting of the party's body will take place tonight at the PS headquarters in Lisbon, after the socialist leader heard from the parliamentary group specifically about the budget proposal submitted last week by the Government to the Assembly of the Republic.

When the proposal was submitted, still during the municipal election campaign, José Luís Carneiro had already opened the door to enabling the OE2026, assuring at the time that he would respect and honor the word he gave to the Portuguese to "contribute to political stability."

In a rally in Braga on Thursday, the PS leader assured that he will "contribute to political stability" in the debate on the State Budget for 2026, but insisted on the need to increase the lowest pensions "in a lasting and structural way."

José Luís Carneiro decided to hear the PS National Political Commission on the final decision to be taken regarding OE2026, with tonight's meeting also serving to analyze the electoral results of Sunday's municipal elections.
