Two men arrested for stealing belongings from a woman renting a room in Lisbon
In a startling incident in Lisbon's Avenidas Novas, two men, aged 27 and 38, were detained by the PSP for allegedly stealing possessions from a woman who was renting a room in a local lodging establishment. The victim, who had a rental agreement for the room, reported that the suspects entered her room without consent and took all her belongings.
Acting on orders?
The suspects claimed they were acting under the instructions of their employer, purportedly the owner of the lodging. According to the PSP, the men admitted to using a master key to illegally enter the victim's room, removing her belongings, and preparing to transport them to a warehouse in another location. The stolen items were found packed in large plastic bags inside a car.
PSP's findings
The police investigation revealed that the suspects had no authorization from the victim to enter her room or remove her possessions. This case highlights concerns over tenant rights and the security of personal belongings in shared lodging spaces.
