André Ventura of Chega has unveiled a series of controversial proposals aimed at overhauling Portugal's immigration and nationality policies. Among the key measures is the revocation of the CPLP special regime, which currently allows immigrants to obtain residency by entering Portugal on a tourist or student visa.
Another significant proposal involves the automatic loss of Portuguese nationality for individuals convicted of serious crimes. Additionally, Chega is pushing for limitations on family reunification and aims to halt the regularization of immigrants who enter Portugal illegally.
These proposals are part of Chega's negotiation agenda with the government, set to be discussed before the parliamentary debate on the executive's measures.
