On the 4th and 5th of July, the Madeira Promotion Post in Lisbon will transform into a portal to the 16th century, hosting a Quinhentista Market. This unique event offers a glimpse into the Madeira of the Discovery era, complete with traditional costumes, crafts, and an immersive cultural experience.
From 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday and 3 PM to 7 PM on Saturday, visitors can enjoy:
- Authentic Madeiran cuisine, including the famous bolo do caco, wheat soup, espetada, and poncha.
- A medieval market atmosphere, with decorations and stalls reminiscent of the time.
- A chance to experience a cultural event traditionally held in Machico, Madeira, now brought to Lisbon.
The event is free to enter, with charges only for food and drinks consumed. It's a rare opportunity to live like royalty, with court jesters, knights, and sword fights adding to the historical ambiance.
The Madeira Information and Promotion Post is located at Rua Nova do Almada, nº 55 and 57, 1200-288 Chiado.
