Disturbing Scene Uncovered in Lisbon Neighborhood

Elements from the 36th PSP police station in Lisbon - located in the Padre Cruz neighborhood - couldn't believe their eyes when they discovered a toddler who could barely walk inside an abandoned building in the neighborhood on Saturday morning. The property was already known to police as being used by drug addicts to consume narcotics.

It was 9:00 AM when the patrol approached the filthy property and found the two-year-old baby, who turned out not to be alone. Just a few meters away, among animal waste, human feces, and urine, were also the siblings - aged three and seven years old.

Children in Critical Condition

The three children were dirty, inadequately dressed for the temperatures and rain occurring on All Saints' Day morning. They were also starving - they hadn't eaten since the previous day, when their mother and her partner had taken them to that drug den.

Nearby, officers found remains of aluminum foil and pipes used for drug consumption, all accessible to the three siblings.

Police Intervention and Aftermath

The agents protected the minors and spoke with the two adults found in that abandoned dwelling. They understood that the family didn't live there and went with the woman to her actual home, which actually had minimum hygiene and safety conditions, as well as food.

Due to legal obligation, the three children were left there with their mother but were reported to the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People (CPCJ), which will now evaluate the case.
