Strong winds have led to significant disruptions at Madeira Airport, affecting several flights. The adverse weather conditions have forced two flights to be diverted to Porto Santo—one operated by JET2 and another by TUI. Additionally, a Ryanair flight from Lisbon had to return to its departure airport.
A Transavia flight from Amsterdam, scheduled to arrive at 18:10, was canceled, and the return flight to Amsterdam will also not operate, as confirmed by Flightradar24.
Currently, multiple aircraft are circling the island, waiting for a safe opportunity to land. The situation remains fluid, with airport operations heavily dependent on weather improvements.
