The Portuguese government has pledged swift financial support for those affected by recent wildfires, with the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion announcing that small amounts will be paid without the need for paperwork.
Rapid Support for Affected Families
The government plans to evaluate the situation and define the terms of support next week, ensuring a quick response to those in need. For damages under €10,000, the process will be expedited, relying on testimonial proof and on-site assessments rather than bureaucratic procedures.

Special Attention to Farmers and Tourism
Farmers will receive rapid assistance, and there will be particular focus on those whose homes have been damaged. Additionally, tourism and housing businesses are set to receive specific support. The government also commits to covering the replacement of municipal equipment.
Over 5,000 Farmers Compensated
With more than 5,000 farmers already compensated from previous incidents, the government aims to streamline the process further this year, addressing any bureaucratic delays that have left fewer than 300 farmers unpaid.
Arouca's Struggle
The mayor of Arouca reported damages exceeding €10 million, not including the loss in tourism revenue and the municipality's image. Immediate concerns include providing clean water to those without supply, with the local government taking exceptional measures to address these urgent needs.
