Luís Newton, the controversial president of the Estrela Parish Council and leader of the PSD in Lisbon, accused of ten crimes in the Tutti-Frutti case - five for malfeasance and another five for corruption - has continued to negotiate and influence the lists for Lisbon's parish councils, whose leading candidates were announced last Thursday. Carlos Moedas himself had to intervene, vetoing one of the names closest to the former deputy and still president of the Estrela Council, because his red line is that no one related to that judicial investigation enters the lists. Moreover, according to several PSD/Lisbon sources, Newton is expanding his influence in at least three major councils (Estrela, Campo de Ourique, and Avenidas Novas), even staying out of the lists, which is causing discomfort and intensifying another orange war in the capital.
