Algarve Tourism Takes Center Stage at Expovacaciones 2025
Algarve Tourism will be showcasing its charm with ten municipalities at Expovacaciones 2025, held from May 9 to 11 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain.
With a focus on "enhancing territorial proximity," Algarve aims to present itself as a "destination of excellence". The promotion will highlight the regional gastronomy, diverse tourism offerings, and the potential of Algarve municipalities in the Spanish market, as stated in a recent press release.
The stand will cover 84 square meters, featuring the municipalities of Albufeira, Aljezur, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Vila do Bispo, and Vila Real de Santo António. Additionally, there will be a dedicated area for the Communication and Branding Management Program of the Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina.
During the three-day event, visitors can enjoy eno-gastronomic demonstrations, showcasing dishes like cataplana de choco with sweet potato and salicornia, lamb stew with mint and chickpeas, and chicken in púcara with almonds, paired with traditional Algarve and Alentejo desserts such as fine sweets, almond pastries, and honey cookies. Attendees will also have the chance to taste wines from Algarve and Alentejo.
André Gomes, president of Algarve Tourism, stated, "Expovacaciones is an essential opportunity to reinforce Algarve as a tourist destination in the Spanish market, leveraging our geographical proximity and direct flight connections with Bilbao and other Spanish cities. We aim to highlight our territory and the diversity of its offerings, from the excellence of our beaches and preserved nature to the rich cultural and gastronomic heritage that defines our region's authenticity."
Promotional materials in Spanish, including brochures about natural parks, maps, and gastronomic guides, will also be available, alongside institutional gifts.
These initiatives are part of the Internationalizar + Algarve 3.0 | Enoturismo project and the Communication and Branding Management Program of the Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina, reinforcing the region's commitment to showcasing its cultural and tourist identity to a priority market like Spain.
