Celebrate the last day of the year with a variety of exciting events across Funchal, Madeira!
If you prefer to stay in the city center of Funchal without heading to clubs or nightclubs, there are several free options organized by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture of Madeira.
The Christmas and New Year’s Festivities 2024/2025 will feature entertainment until January 7, primarily at the Central Plaza of Avenida Arriaga and other locations.

In addition to the Christmas Market with traditional stalls, today’s agenda includes performances at various locations in Funchal:
Central Plaza of Avenida Arriaga
- 11:00 AM - Performance by the Folklore Group of Rochão
- 3:00 PM - Performance by Borracheiros
- 4:00 PM - Concert by Banda D’Além
- 7:00 PM - Concert by Miguel Pires Trio
Praça do Povo
- 9:00 PM - Concert by Alexandra Barbosa Trio
- 10:00 PM - Street Animation – Jumbo Colours
- 10:30 PM - Concert by The Peakles
- 12:30 AM - DJ Pedro Pestana
Cais do Funchal
- 11:40 PM - Countdown show featuring a spectacular fireworks display to welcome 2025, including lasers and light effects.
- 12:00 AM - New Year Fireworks Show lasting eight minutes with a total of 59 firing points across various locations, including the amphitheater of Funchal and the sea.
Alternative Celebrations
- Santa Catarina Park will host a free New Year’s Eve party starting at 8:30 PM with diverse performances and a DJ after midnight.
- Machico offers a fireworks show at midnight, starting with live music from Roni de Melo and Band at 10:00 PM.
- For those in Porto Moniz, a fireworks festival will light up the bay at 12:00 AM.
- Porto Santo will celebrate with a fireworks display and a concert by Sónia Soares at 11:15 PM.
