Defending Lisbon: A Call to Action
In a recent statement, Bruno Mascarenhas, the candidate for Chega in the Lisbon City Council election, outlined his vision for the city over the past four years. He emphasized a completely differentiated program aimed at addressing key urban challenges.
Mascarenhas highlighted his efforts to defend Lisbon from multiculturalism, citing his role in breaking the consensus among system parties to prevent the construction of the Martim Moniz Mosque. He advocated for quotas in affordable housing for strategic sectors, including teachers, nurses, doctors, and police officers, ensuring they have access to housing in the city.
He also pushed for expanding the powers of the Municipal Police in Lisbon to enhance public safety. Additionally, he criticized the proliferation of bike lanes and excessive soft mobility measures, arguing that they harm traffic flow in the city.
To combat drug trafficking near schools, Mascarenhas promoted the use of video surveillance. He firmly attacked abuses in residency certificates, overcrowding in homes, and souvenir shops that he claims detract from the city's character.
Now, he calls for the execution of these measures with the support of Lisbon voters' votes, positioning this as a critical moment for the city's future.
