Former Prime Minister Responds to Chega Leader's Comments
Pedro Passos Coelho, the former Prime Minister of Portugal, stated on Saturday that he was not "bothered" by the remarks made by André Ventura. During the announcement of his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic, Ventura expressed that he "would have preferred Pedro Passos Coelho to be the candidate" for Belém.

Speaking to SIC Notícias on the sidelines of the presentation of the Aveleda com Alma candidacy in Vila do Conde, Passos Coelho emphasized that he has nothing to do with "the contexts in which the presidential elections are taking place," positioning himself as "detached" from them.
When asked if he was bothered by the statements from the leader of Chega, he replied: "Why would I be bothered by someone who says they would vote for me and support me whenever I ran? I don't see why I should be bothered."
Passos Coelho reiterated that "it has been known for a long time" that he does not intend to run for the position of President of the Republic.
Ventura, it is recalled, stated that he would have preferred Passos Coelho to be a candidate, but since "it wasn't possible," he entered the race for Belém.
