As protests against a recent police operation in Benformoso unfold in Lisbon, the Chega party organized a vigil in support of the PSP (Public Security Police) at Praça da Figueira. The theme of the vigil, led by André Ventura's party, is “For Authority and Against Impunity.”
Participants included Chega leaders and MPs, who dressed in dark attire and distributed t-shirts to attendees. They were instructed to maintain a “one-arm distance” for the concentration perimeter, which also featured a stage truck.
Among the notable attendees were Chega parliament members Rita Matias, Rui Paulo Sousa, Pedro Frazão, Diogo Pacheco Amorim, and actress Maria Vieira. Ventura expressed disappointment at the Prime Minister's absence, stating, “He should have had the courage to say, ‘when you stand with the security forces, you go all the way.’”
