Portuguese company Control Space, specializing in storage rental services, has made its first real estate acquisition in the Algarve, marking a significant expansion from north to south of Portugal. The purchase of a warehouse in Guia, Albufeira, represents a key step in their €50 million investment plan launched in 2024.
Located near the AlgarveShopping mall, the facility spans 5,000 m2, offering storage units for rent to both private and business clients in the heart of the Algarve. Albano Costa Lobo, co-founder of Control Space, highlighted the strategic advantage of the location, emphasizing its visibility and convenience.
This move increases Control Space's self-storage footprint in Portugal to 38,000 m2, with plans to add another 12,000 m2 through an additional €10 million investment. The expansion is backed by a €50 million joint venture between Colares Capital and Incus Capital, with over 80% of the funds already deployed.
Adapting to market needs, Control Space has introduced temporary parking solutions for cars and food trucks, alongside climate-controlled storage options. The Algarve's seasonal dynamics pose no challenge to their flexible business model, catering to temporary residents and seasonal businesses seeking secure, accessible spaces without long-term commitments.
