Emergency Services at Loures Hospital Disrupted by IT Issues
The General Emergency service at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures is facing significant disruptions due to ongoing IT problems, which have been affecting operations since last week. While the hospital has not confirmed a full closure, it acknowledges severe constraints, leading to the redirection of patients to other facilities, such as Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon.

Impact on Patient Care
Scheduled consultations and surgeries have been postponed, and non-critical patients are being diverted to emergency services at other hospitals. The hospital stated in a communication to Antena 1 that the issue stems from a failure of an IT equipment, making it difficult to access clinical processes. This has necessitated the activation of a contingency plan.
Contingency Measures in Place
Critical patient care, pediatric emergencies, and gynecology and obstetrics services remain operational. The hospital is working to resolve the IT issues but has had to delay planned activities for the time being.
