Lisbon is set to host a unique and differentiating show, "Organismo by Maraña," which stands out for being an immersive and multisensory performance in an authentic patchwork of wool. This show will have only six sessions in Lisbon, at the iconic Carpintarias de São Lázaro, over four days, between May 15 and 18.

What is Maraña?
Maraña is an experiential space, an interdisciplinary installation that combines contemporary circus, movement theater, and performance, having grown in Berlin since 2018. Maraña is not a person but a unique and innovative artistic project created and executed by a team that stands out for mixing different languages and forms of expression, in a visually impactful experience.
The name Maraña came from a family joke: when showing the first crochet wall she built, her daughter called it "mamá araña" (mother-spider), and thus the name of the project was born, symbolizing the fusion between crochet (ball of wool) and the idea of a web.
"Organismo" in Lisbon
"Organismo" is Maraña's latest production, premiered in 2022 and exhibited dozens of times in the United States and Europe, now arriving in Lisbon, more specifically at Carpintarias de São Lázaro, in the Mouraria neighborhood.
The immersive show was created by the Chilean artist and circus arts director Paula Riquelme, also known as Lapaulari, who used her more than 20 years of experience to transform the setting into a giant crochet wool tapestry, which will merge with the five performers in a choreography of interdependence, functioning as a collective unit: an organism.
Total Immersion
What you will experience in "Organismo by Maraña" is truly engaging, in a multicolored setting where artists mix and intertwine in the thousands of wool threads in a totally crocheted installation, creating a visually incredible and hypnotic environment.
The music, which will also be part of the act lasting about 60 minutes, plays a very important role, as it intensifies the feeling of immersion you will feel throughout the show.
At the end, after the sessions, especially on May 17, you can also socialize and interact directly with the woolly wall, as well as with the artists, who will be dressed to the nines so you can feel their "second skin."
