Political tensions escalated in Espinho during a morning of campaign activities, leading to the identification of a Chega deputy and a member of the Socialist Youth (JS) by the PSP. The incident occurred near a Chega stall at the Espinho fair, where Pedro Frazão, a Chega deputy, was campaigning. According to JS members, Chega supporters hurled insults as the socialists passed by. In retaliation, a JS member called Frazão a "fascist", prompting the deputy to complain to the PSP, which led to the JS member's identification.
However, the JS member wasn't the only one identified. The PSP confirmed to Observador that both parties involved in the altercation were identified, including Pedro Frazão and the JS member. A national PSP directorate source stated that an expedient would be prepared and the facts reported to the Public Ministry. Both parties have 180 days to file a complaint.
Pedro Frazão expressed to Observador that he is "meditating" whether to file a complaint against the JS member, considering the offense as "very serious" and "aggravated", especially given his status as a deputy.
