Lisbon has been named the guest city for the 11th edition of the Portugal Smart Cities Summit (PSCS), set to take place from June 3 to 5 at FIL, Parque das Nações. This announcement highlights Lisbon's leading role in the national smart cities scene, succeeding Guimarães as this year's chosen city.
Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, emphasized the city's commitment to urban innovation, sustainability, and creating a smarter, more efficient, and citizen-oriented urban environment. "This invitation acknowledges Lisbon's journey in developing innovative urban solutions—from sustainable mobility to energy efficiency, and from smart resource management to promoting social inclusion," Moedas stated.
The summit will introduce a new format this year, organized around four thematic areas: Living (quality of life and territorial well-being), Moving (smart mobility and logistics), Eco (sustainability and environment), and Connect (technology and urban intelligence).
A notable addition is the "Shark Tank Smart Cities", offering startups a platform to pitch their solutions to investors and industry leaders. The event will also feature a conference cycle and the Portugal Smart Cities Awards – António Almeida Henriques, recognizing outstanding projects in urban innovation.
Applications for the awards close on May 12, with categories including Public Space, Mobility, Carbon Neutrality, Social Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable and Smart Urban Rehabilitation.
