A Ryanair flight from Faro to Charleroi, Belgium, was at the center of a false bomb threat, leading to a complete halt of operations at Charleroi Airport near Brussels. The security alert was triggered upon the flight's landing, but Ryanair later confirmed it was a false alarm.
- The flight departed Faro at 07:26 Lisbon time and landed at 10:52 local time (one hour less in Portugal).
- Approximately 160 passengers were on board, all of whom were allowed to disembark by Belgian authorities after the threat was deemed false.
Initially, reports suggested the flight had originated from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto. According to France Presse, the bomb threat was communicated at 11:00 local time (10:00 in mainland Portugal).
During the alert, a security perimeter was established around the aircraft, resulting in the runway's closure and a suspension of all airport operations, as stated by an airport spokesperson.
Charleroi Airport, located south of Brussels, is a key hub for low-cost airlines. Operations have since resumed following the all-clear.
