Joaquin Cortés is Back in Portugal
The renowned Spanish dancer and choreographer Joaquin Cortés is set to enchant audiences in Portugal this October with his spectacular show, “O Sonho de Cortés.”
Performance Dates and Locations
Cortés will perform on October 16th at the Pavilhão Multiusos in Guimarães, followed by a show on October 18th at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon.
A Brief Journey Through Cortés' Career
Born in 1969 in Córdoba, Spain, Cortés began his flamenco journey under the guidance of his uncle, Cristóbal Reyes. By 1984, he was a part of the Ballet Nacional de España, touring internationally as a principal dancer.
In 1992, he founded his own company and embarked on his first international tour with “Cibayí.” His cinematic debut came in 1995 with Pedro Almodóvar's “La Flor de mi secreto,” followed by “Flamenco” directed by Carlos Saura. That same year, he toured internationally with “Pásion Gitana,” featuring costumes designed by the Italian fashion icon Giorgio Armani, continuing until 1997. In 1999, he collaborated again with Armani for the choreography of “Soul.”
Notable Performances in Portugal
Cortés has a rich history of performances in Portugal, having previously showcased his talent during Expo’98 in Lisbon. In 2005, he presented “Mi Soledad” in Porto and returned in 2010 to celebrate his 20-year career with “Calé.” In 2007, he performed at Estádio da Luz during the ceremony for the “New 7 Wonders of the World,” alongside notable artists Dulce Pontes and José Carreras.

Tickets for the performances range from €35 to €85 in Guimarães and from €28 to €150 in Lisbon.
