Lisbon has opposed 398 new local accommodation registration requests and identified 273 illegal accommodations operating since a ban was implemented last year. The city council has been actively enforcing the prohibition, which took effect on November 1, and is set to last until at least October 31 of this year.
Since the ban, the municipality has communicated the illegal operations to the Authority for Food and Economic Safety (ASAE). The council notes it's unclear if these accommodations began operating before the ban, confirming only their illegal status.
The city is also reviewing feedback from a public consultation on the new Municipal Regulation for Local Accommodation (RMAL), which concluded in April. The process, initially expected to finish by June's end, remains ongoing.
Proposed regulations aim to prohibit new local accommodations in parishes where they exceed 5% of family homes, including areas like Santa Maria Maior and Arroios. Restrictions are also planned for 19 neighborhoods across several other parishes.
