Incident Overview
A training sailboat from the Portuguese Navy sank during the early hours of Wednesday at the Lisbon Naval Base, located in Alfeite, Almada. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
Investigation Underway
The causes leading to the sinking remain unknown and will be thoroughly investigated by the authorities.
The NRP Polar has been in service with the Portuguese Navy since 1983.
