Rumors have swirled around the alleged disappearance of 50 Angolan citizens who came to Lisbon to show support for President João Lourenço during his visit in late July. Social media posts, including one by Chega's leader André Ventura, claimed these individuals, supposedly paid and organized by the Angolan state, vanished in Portugal, unwilling to return to Luanda. Ventura criticized the situation as being hidden by the Portuguese government.
However, both the Angolan embassy in Lisbon and the Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP) have denied these claims. The embassy clarified that the photo circulating does not correspond to Lourenço's visit but shows individuals who arrived a month earlier with the vice-president of the MPLA, Mara Quiosa. They labeled the disappearance claims as "false". Similarly, the PSP stated they have no knowledge of such incidents, emphasizing that all individuals entering Portugal through air borders do so legally.
