Strong winds continue to disrupt operations at Madeira International Airport, also known as Cristiano Ronaldo Airport. This morning, Santa Cruz recorded a maximum wind gust of 72 km/h, leading to the diversion of six flights.
Aeroportos da Madeira had previously warned passengers about adverse weather conditions until July 7th, as reported by DIÁRIO. Today, flights from TAP (Porto), easyJet (Lisbon), United Airlines (Newark), TUI Airways, easyJet (Manchester), and JET 2 (London) were diverted.
Additionally, flights by Transavia (Paris) and Ew Discover (Frankfurt) were canceled. Passengers who managed to land today described experiencing severe turbulence and moments of tension.
