Search efforts expanded to the river mouth this Saturday to locate the missing 17-year-old.
A 17-year-old Brazilian student, who vanished after jumping from the Luís I Bridge into the Douro River in Porto during a school trip, remains missing. The search operations have been broadened to include the river mouth area.
Intensive search operations underway
According to Rui Lampreia, commander of the Porto and Leixões Harbor Master's Office, the search resumed at around 8:30 AM on Saturday. The operation involves two teams of divers from the Porto and Gaia Fire Departments, alongside three patrol boats from the Maritime Police and the Institute for the Aid to Shipwrecked Persons.
Details of the missing teen
The missing individual is a Brazilian national and a secondary school student who was visiting Porto as part of an educational excursion. The incident has sparked widespread concern and a coordinated search effort to locate the young student.
