A small agricultural plane crashed this Saturday on a farm in Benavente, leaving the pilot seriously injured. The aircraft was performing rice field treatments at the time of the accident.
According to the CDOS of Santarém, the pilot was the only occupant of the plane. The emergency call was made at 18:21, prompting a response from the Firefighters of Salvaterra de Magos and Benavente, INEM, and GNR. The VMER of Santarém was also activated to assist in the emergency.
The incident highlights the risks associated with agricultural aviation, a critical sector for Portugal's farming industry.
