August is traditionally a vacation month for many Portuguese, including some well-known public figures. Cristina Ferreira, after spending a few days in Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, Alentejo, and traveling to Menorca, Spain, decided to head south to Portugal to explore the Verdelago Resort in Castro Marim, Altura.
The TV host spent the weekend at this 5-star resort located on the coast of the Sotavento Algarvio, influenced by actress Catarina Gouveia, who also visited and recommended the "peace of the place".
Part of this tranquility is experienced at Praia Verde, right in front of the resort, which Cristina Ferreira describes as the "most incredible beach in the Algarve". It's a "beach with endless views, warm and clean water", accompanied by boardwalks perfect for morning or evening walks.
Praia Verde boasts the Blue Flag and Accessible Beach awards, indicating high environmental quality, good planning, and adapted access. Located in a higher relief area, the beach offers a privileged view, spanning from Monte Gordo Bay to Manta Rota, one of the Algarve's most beautiful panoramic views.
For access, there are two parking areas: one near the beach (usually paid) and another free one at the top of the hill, from where it's a 5–10 minute walk down.
The beach remains peaceful, even in summer, with many choosing to stay until sunset and then dine at one of the sea-view restaurants, like the famous Pézinhos n’Areia, or the Verdelago Beach Club, the resort's restaurant offering locally inspired cuisine and signature cocktails. Highlights from the menu include the Carabineiros Curry and Lobster Rice.
