Faro, 09 Jun 2025 – The Bishop of Algarve, D. Manuel Quintas, presided over the priestly ordination of Bruno Valente this Sunday, highlighting it as a testament to God's goodness and love. The ceremony took place at the Sé de Faro, coinciding with the Diocesan Church Day and the Solemnity of Pentecost, a significant moment in the Catholic Church marking the descent of the Holy Spirit.
Bruno Valente, 25, was ordained in a celebration that brought together the diocesan community, including bishops, priests, deacons, and laypeople. D. Manuel Quintas emphasized the Church's need for everyone's responsible participation, urging the faithful to remain steadfast in prayer for vocations.
"From today, dear Bruno, we are happy because we can also count on your contribution," said D. Manuel Quintas, underscoring the hope and joy that Valente's ordination brings to the Church and the Algarve diocese.
The bishop also reminded the youth present of the importance of being open to vocational calls, inspired by the new priest's example. The event was further enriched by the presence of bishops from Funchal and São Tomé and Príncipe, alongside seminary rectors and formators from Faro, Caparide, and Évora.
Bruno Valente shared his vision of priesthood as a service to foster communion and dialogue, aiming to unite people and bring them closer to God. His first Mass as a priest is scheduled for June 15 at the Montenegro church, his home parish.
