Altar Servers Celebration

The Jubilee of Altar Servers is an initiative promoted by the Diocesan Center of Altar Servers. The event begins with a welcome at 09:30 in the parish hall of Olhão and concludes with the celebration of the Eucharist at 18:00 in the main church.

Highlights of the program include group presentations followed by activities titled 'Anchored in Hope' starting at 10:30. After lunch, at 14:30, the altar servers will engage in further activities.

The Diocesan Center of Altar Servers encourages participants to bring lunch to share, musical instruments for those who can play, and appropriate attire, including albs/tunics/vestments, and recommends bringing warm clothing.

An altar server (from the Greek term meaning 'to accompany' or 'to follow') assists the Catholic clergy in the service of the altar. They can also be solemnly instituted, which occurs within the framework of formation for the priesthood.

The Catholic Church is celebrating the 2025 Holy Year, the 27th ordinary jubilee in history, initiated by Pope Francis and dedicated to the theme of hope.
