André Ventura, leader of the Chega party, made a surprising appearance at the party's final campaign rally in Praça do Município, Lisbon, just a day after being discharged from the hospital. Despite the party's earlier statement that Ventura would not return to the campaign trail due to medical advice, the leader insisted on being present, stating, "I couldn't not be here today, to fulfill our mission of transforming Portugal."
Ventura, who was hospitalized after feeling unwell during a campaign event in Odemira, shared his experiences from the hospital, mentioning the support he received from medical staff. "Many doctors and nurses left me messages," he said, also alleging, "There were many who wanted me dead."
The Chega leader's determination to participate in the rally highlights the intensity of the campaign's final days. Ventura's health scare, diagnosed as an esophageal spasm, did not deter him from emphasizing the importance of his party's fight, "The struggle we've waged was worth it," he affirmed.
