André Ventura, leader of the Chega party, was hospitalized this Thursday at the Hospital de Setúbal for a catheterization to rule out any heart disease. By the end of the day, he was discharged after several hours of medical observation but will miss the final day of the campaign on Friday.
Health Scare During Campaign
The Chega party announced that Ventura would not participate in the last day of campaigning, considering his health situation and the latest medical advice. Ventura was advised to rest and will undergo further tests, confirming his absence from the campaign's closing events.
Medical Updates
Filipe Seixo, director of the Cardiology Service at Hospital de Setúbal, stated that Ventura was "stable" and would remain under observation post-catheterization. The procedure went well, with Ventura being asymptomatic but requiring additional complementary exams. Details about his health were kept confidential due to medical secrecy.
Earlier, Armindo Ribeiro, director of the Emergency Service at Hospital do Litoral Alentejano, mentioned that Ventura was stable but had a second episode of chest pain, prompting precautionary measures and the catheterization to rule out heart disease.
Ventura's Response
Ventura took to social media to share a photo from his hospital bed, captioning it: "It's a setback and a difficulty. It won't bring us down. Keep going... keep going!!! Portugal is much more important, it's this country that drives us."
