The "Alameda Viva" project is set to restart on May 31st and will run until October 18th. Over five months, the historic Jardim da Alameda will host bi-weekly activities on Saturday afternoons (from 5 PM to 8 PM) for the whole family, and also bi-weekly on Tuesday mornings (from 10:30 AM to 12 PM) for seniors.

Program Themes Include:

  • May 31st – Garden of Loose Words;
  • June 1st (Sunday - Children's Day) – Garden of the Little Ones;
  • June 14th – Garden of Sustainability;
  • June 28th – Garden of Arts;
  • July 12th – Garden of Communities;
  • July 26th – To the Garden with Grandparents;
  • August 9th – Enjoy Summer in the Garden;

  • September 6th – Tribute to Faro in the Garden;
  • September 20th – From the Garden to the Classroom;
  • October 4th – Garden of Movement;
  • October 18th – The Enchanted Garden.

Involving various groups from Faro's associations, schools, senior homes, and public institutions, "Alameda Viva" aims to create a healthy and fun dynamic among people of different backgrounds and ages, promoting educational and recreational activities that allow for quality family time in contact with nature. This iconic city space will thus gain new life and can be known and appreciated by many. This initiative is also a privileged moment for seniors from various local homes and day centers to go outdoors, enjoying intergenerational socializing moments.

The 2024 edition was a success, involving 20 associations (cultural and sports), eight entertainment companies, 17 artists from various fields, and six senior homes and day centers. An average of 400 people participated in each thematic day, bringing together several generations: children, teenagers, parents, and grandparents. Regarding actions for seniors, the average was 30 participants in each date. Over the five months of the project, about 5,000 participants were involved, who considered it "important to have this type of dynamics, which revitalize these spaces and create moments of true family conviviality."

The program will be available on the municipality's website (https://www.cm-faro.pt/pt/destaques/80572/alameda-viva.aspx) and will be updated regularly with the participating groups in each session.
