Funchal Celebrates City Day with Prestigious Awards
In a solemn ceremony marking the City Day of Funchal, the event concluded with the presentation of the Municipal Merit Medal. This recognition was bestowed upon several citizens for their significant contributions not only to the city but also to the wider region.

Honorees and Their Achievements
The recipients of the Medal of Municipal Merit include:
- Cecília Pereira, a professor who dedicated her life to Special Education and has previously been honored with the insignia of Commander of the Order of Merit.
- José Nelson Coelho, former president of the Casa Portuguesa Do Estado Aragua and Feceporven, and current president of the Academia do Bacalhau de Maracay.
- Mário André Rosado, a musician and founder of the group Banda d’Além, known for creating various cultural dynamization projects.
- Rui Alberto Camacho, co-founder of the 'Xarabanda' project, devoted to promoting traditional Madeiran music.
Additional Recognitions
In addition to the merit medals, the 'Centenarian Citizen' Municipal Distinction was awarded to Maria José Gouveia da Silva, Florinda de Freitas Pinto, and Maria Celeste de Nóbrega. These citizens have reached the remarkable age of 100 years.
