Lisbon's City Council has initiated an internal inquiry following the cancellation of a lottery for 133 homes under the Affordable Rent Program (PRA). The cancellation was due to failure to meet legal requirements for public transmission, as clarified by the council.
Details of the Cancelled Lottery
The 29th PRA lottery, which was prematurely held on Monday instead of the scheduled Tuesday, was annulled. The council stated, "It was annulled because the regulatory formalities required for public transmission, as well as the previously announced date and time, were not complied with."
Internal Inquiry Ordered
In response, Filipa Roseta (PSD), the councilor for Housing, ordered the opening of an internal inquiry to ascertain the facts and any potential responsibilities. The findings will be made public to ensure transparency and credibility of the process.
New Lottery Scheduled
A new lottery is set for June 27 at 3:30 PM, covering the same pool of applicants. The initial lottery, which saw 7,362 applications for 133 homes, was cancelled due to "technical reasons."
Housing Details
The 133 homes, ranging from T0 to T3, are mostly located in Marvila, with others in Arroios, Olivais, Carnide, and Alvalade. Despite the cancellation, the online platform Habitar Lisboa remains operational, having recently conducted the 30th PRA lottery for 17 homes designated for people with limited mobility.
Transparency and Public Trust
The council emphasizes its commitment to transparency, ensuring all processes are conducted openly to maintain public trust in the housing programs.
