PSP Operation Targets Largo de São Domingos

In a significant move, the Lisbon PSP Command conducted a large-scale inspection operation at Largo de São Domingos in Rossio, an area well-known for crimes such as receiving stolen goods and small-scale drug trafficking.

The operation took place from 11:00 to 16:30 last Thursday, focusing on illicit street vending and taxi inspections.

Key Findings and Actions

  • 27 individuals were identified (18 men and 9 women).
  • 21 taxis were inspected, leading to the arrest of one driver for speculation.
  • Four notices were issued for lack of taxi driver certification, and one foreign national was notified for coercive removal from the country.

Seizures and Additional Measures

  • Nine doses of hashish were seized.
  • Various objects and materials suspected of being stolen and sold publicly were confiscated.
  • This resulted in eight more notices for illegal street vending and six for selling clothing to unknown persons.

Collaboration and Cleanup

The PSP also assisted teams from the Santa Maria Maior Parish Council in collecting and destroying approximately 200 kilograms of objects that were causing unsanitary conditions in the area.
