Scheduled Power Cuts in Seven Municipalities
Seven municipalities in Portugal will experience planned power outages this Sunday, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM, due to essential maintenance work on the electricity distribution network, as announced by the operator E-Redes.
Why the Outages Are Happening
E-Redes has clarified that these are pre-scheduled interruptions aimed at ensuring the quality and reliability of the electrical service. In a statement, they emphasized that maintaining continuous and high-quality power supply is a top priority, requiring localized work on the distribution network, which necessitates temporary power cuts.
Affected Areas and Timings
The municipalities impacted include:
- Lisbon, Oeiras, and Sintra in the Lisbon district
- Tomar in the Santarém district
- Faro, Lagos, and Olhão in the Faro district
Specific details for each area:
- Lisbon: Campolide parish, affecting Avenida Conselheiro Fernando de Sousa and Rua Professor Sousa da Câmara, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
- Oeiras: União de Freguesias de Algés, Linda-A-Velha e Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

- Algarve: Montenegro in Faro, Quelfes in Olhão, and São Gonçalo de Lagos in Lagos, all from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Purpose of the Maintenance
These interruptions allow for maneuvers, connection work, repairs, or conservation of network infrastructure, carried out only when alternative power supply options are exhausted. E-Redes notes that such measures help correct issues that could compromise network safety and prevent potential failures.
