Details of the Shooting
According to the PSP (Public Security Police), the victim was hit with two shots: one grazing the arm and another on the left side of the chest. He received assistance on-site and was transported to São José Hospital in Lisbon. Despite the severity of the injuries, he is not in life-threatening danger.
Witnesses reported the incident to two PSP officers who were nearby, on paid duty at the BP fuel station, describing the shooter and his direction of escape. Based on this information, the police located and intercepted a suspect who was trying to "blend in" with the crowd.
When approached safely, the suspect was found in possession of a 7.65mm caliber weapon, for which he did not have a license for use and carrying. The weapon was hidden in a bag he was carrying over his shoulder.
The Judicial Police were called and collected the weapon, shell casings, and other evidence. The suspect was presented to the Sintra Court and subjected to the most severe coercive measure: preventive detention. He will await the progress of the case in the Lisbon Prison Establishment.
