The upcoming week will see temperatures 'above the average for May', according to meteorologist Bruno Café from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
This weekend, maximum temperatures will range between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius across the country, slightly lower along the coast. Minimum temperatures will hover between 10 and 15 degrees, except in the Algarve, where they'll be between 15 and 20. The sky will be mostly clear, with some cloudiness expected on Sunday.
Wind will be light to moderate, coming from the north, potentially stronger on Friday in highlands and coastal areas.
For those planning beach visits, consider the water temperature and UV radiation. The western coast's water temperature will be between 15 and 17 degrees, while the Algarve's beaches will offer a warmer 18 degrees. The IPMA forecasts high UV levels for the next four days, advising caution.
Starting Monday, temperatures will gradually rise, exceeding 35 degrees in Lisbon and reaching between 23 and 31 degrees in Porto. The Algarve will also experience highs of 34 degrees by Thursday, with temperatures not dropping below 30 degrees throughout the week.
Additionally, high pollen levels are expected until the end of next week, affecting all continental districts with allergens from olive, pine, birch, oak trees, and grasses.
This weather pattern is due to an anticyclone near the Azores, bringing warm air masses, explains IPMA's Bruno Café.
