Expanded Program and New Venues
The Tribeca Festival Lisboa has finalized its program for the second edition, scheduled from October 30 to November 1, extending the event to three full days. The festival will once again center around the Hub Criativo do Beato, but this year introduces new venues nearby, including The Theater at Teatro Ibérico and The Chapel in the Convento do Beato.

Recent announcements from an event held this Thursday at the Hub Criativo do Beato include appearances by actress Edie Falco, famed for roles in The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, and filmmaker-producer Ava DuVernay, known for movies like Selma and Origin, as well as the series When They See Us. They join previously confirmed stars such as Kim Cattrall, Meg Ryan, Giancarlo Esposito, Joaquim de Almeida, and Daniela Ruah.
Additional new confirmations feature Mexican actress Veronica Falcón, recognized from series like Ozark, Queen of the South, and Perry Mason, and actor Ed Westwick, who gained popularity through Gossip Girl.

Three more film screenings have been added to the festival lineup. A major highlight is Eleanor the Great, marking Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut, with June Squibb in the lead role. Other premieres include If I Had Legs I'd Kick You by Mary Bronstein, starring Rose Byrne, Conan O'Brien, Danielle Macdonald, and Christian Slater, and All We Cannot See by Venezuelan director Alberto Arvelo, partially filmed in Portugal.
Previously announced films include the premiere of Bugonia by Yorgos Lanthimos, along with screenings of Dreams by Michel Franco, Honeyjoon by Lilian T. Mehrel, and The Best You Can by Michael J. In total, 18 productions will be screened—12 international and six national. Portuguese films feature prominently, such as Match by Duarte Neves, A Memória do Cheiro das Coisas by António Ferreira, Além do Horizonte — A Travessia by Fernando Vendrell, and the documentary Feel the Magic: Ticha Penicheiro — Against All Odds by André Braz, about the Portuguese basketball player.
Talk Programs and Discussions
The festival's talk program was also detailed, with sessions on the Lisboa Stage by MEO and The Auditorium by Vilamoura. Highlights include Kim Cattrall and Daniela Ruah discussing their careers abroad in "No Fixed Address: A Life in Global Storytelling," Giancarlo Esposito and Edie Falco joining Portuguese actor Albano Jerónimo for "The Weight of a Character" on character preparation, and Meg Ryan in conversation with Catarina Furtado in "In My Own Words: Meg Ryan on Image, Identity and Reinvention."
Funding Controversy Recap
Recall that the inaugural edition faced controversy over its funding model, involving €750,000 in public support from Turismo de Portugal (€250,000), the Lisbon Tourism Association (€250,000), and municipal company Lisboa Cultura (€250,000). This allocation, made without prior announcement or council deliberation, drew criticism from opposition parties targeting Carlos Moedas, with the PS even proposing a municipal assembly recommendation for an audit into the 2024 funding.
